If you are looking for a cost effective, portable alternative to the PDA-style scanner (like the Janam® XM65), cosider the FATS® Laptop Scanner. The FATS laptop scanner is a configuration of a laptop or netbook running the FATS® Laptop Scanner software, connected to an inexpensive barcode scanner. You can carry this setup to a new asset's location, scan the new barcode, and enter data about the new asset onto the laptop.

It's not quite as small and convenient as a Janam® XM65, but it is portable and much more cost effective.

• FATS® Laptop Scanner Software
• A portable computer with Windows® XP® or better, a USB port or a serial port, 70 megabytes of disk space
• Any barcode scanner that can act as a common "keyboard wedge" scanner and can read our / your barcodes. Our barcodes are common "3 of 9" or "Code 39". Samples provided on request.
• Cable to connect barcode scanner to USB port or serial port of computer
  

• We can provide technical support
• We know it works with our labels and most others
• When not in use as a keyboard wedge scanner with your laptop, it can be totally disconnected, carried in your pocket, and used to scan and store 3,000 barcodes.
• It can then be uploaded straight to FATS®. If your laptop only has a USB port we have the proper cable to connect the ROV.
